As many as 60% of long-term care residents in some communities never receive any visitors. This isolation often leads to depression, despair, detachment, and even premature death. Senior Connections provides carefully screened, specially trained Relational Volunteers to long-term care, assisted living and senior living communities.
There are about 7,000 residents in St. Louis City and County who receive no outside visitors and are, even in the best-run facilities, at risk of suffering physically and emotionally from isolation and neglect. There are 97 long-term care facilities in the Senior Connections target area, serving a total population of 13,325.
